(originally posted on OLF 1.0 on 09/24/06 and conall had some wise words of advice: "watch out for the golfballs")

Uplands is located just south of Highway 407, off of Yonge street.

This is an area with some nice hills with different routes you can take, some more chilled-out than others:

1. Shasta Dr (yes Civ!) - this and the street just West of it (Vistaview Blvd) are probably the most relaxing grade, fun for carving and cruising down but nothing special.

2. Longbridge Road - if you're into sliding, going straight down Longbridge is an option. you can also ride part of the way down Longbridge and make a left onto Riverside Blvd. you can then make your 2nd right (Meadow Height Ct) into a little dead-end street or just cruise down to Uplands Ave (the golf course will be on your left). at this point you can either walk up the other side of Riverside Blvd and hit it from the opposite end (also fun), choose one of two streets connecting to Riverside (Helen & Thornhill Ave), OR go into the golf course!

3. Uplands Golf Club - haven't skated much here yet since we always end up with security chasing us in their little golf carts, but conall, who has managed to avoid them, says there are some fun, skateable paths in there. just watch for the sketchy transition between the path and the bridge!

4. Idleswift (aka: "The Bat Cave") - my personal favourite since you can get a good amount of speed down this run. it is kinda freaky (albeit more fun!) at night since it's pitch black (apart from one house with lights that make it look like there is a car coming straight at you). watch out for the manholes in the middle of the road and you'll be fine!

all in all this area isn't TOO exciting (ie. don't go here expecting some crazy Dh). the pavement is nice and smooth but the hills aren't all that steep. still, it is pretty good for the suburbs!!!  Cheesy

*To get there via transit: take the VIVA Blue Northbound from Finch station. get off at Royal Orchard and walk North on Yonge until you see Uplands Ave. or Longbridge Rd on your left. here is the route map: http://www.yorkregiontransit.com/GIF/viva_routemap_complete.gif

Me and Jason bomb Idleswift  Courtesy of Zachasaurus  Grin I think it's a sick racing hill if you start from Longbridge (a sick jamming hill right beside it) and then make the turn and then another turn to start the hill (you would start the race on Longbridge) . We should hit it up ! I want to race  Cool
