SKATERS!
We will pay our respects to Ralph Bissonnette tomorrow (Wednesday).

I am glad so many of you are planning to be there to show our respect
to a young man who's life was taken away too soon and so needlessly.

It is also a very important show of solidarity.
Today, I kept thinking: it could have been any one of us.

We will meet at St. James Park at King and Jarvis from 6pm to 7pm.

Here is the Facebook event:
https://www.facebook.com/events/385358431515230/
As you know, social media can be a powerful tool.
Spread the word by inviting your friends.

Bring your longboard or skateboard, helmet, candles and lighters.
Please dress up nice if you can.

LONGBOARDERS UNITE!!!

Feel free to bring your friends who don't skate. This event is open to all.

Quote
it sound like it was longboarders fault because he was on the side of the road, not the sidewalk, and he was banging on the taxi, agitating the driver. they even showed footage of him doing it,

the vehicle looks like it is no worse for wear and
will likely see another day on toronto's streets.

despite what may or may not have transpired, intentionally
striking a person with a vehicle is an offence, and not one
that should be taken lightly.

i've shared many 'crazy cabbie' stories with other boarders over
the years. IMHO, cabs are, by far, the biggest menace on Toronto's
roads - to drivers, cyclists, boarders, and pedestrians alike.

i really hope there's a good showing of Boarded Peoples tomorrow.
i haven't stopped thinking about this all day. skate safe, skate smart.

Just saw this news story again on CBC News; Sebastian Bravo and Jonathan Nuss from Longboard Living were interviewed.
It's a shame that this had to happen. Wish I could be at the vigil. R.I.P Ralph.

It may be best to avoid prolonged interaction with the press tomorrow.

This thread has been viewed over 600 times, yet less than 100 people have confirmed that they are attending the vigil tomorrow night a 6:00 pm.

Please recognize that this could have been any of us, we all have stories of close calls and near misses, and we need to bring our voices together as one - to support not only Ralph Bissonnette, but the community as a whole.

I would ask that everyone act in a respectful manner, for we are respreseting ourselves and the community that we all are very passionate about - this is a time we as skaters can show the rest of society that we are not crazed dare-devils, but responsible individuals who take the events that have transpired seriously.

Knowing that the press will be present - lets lead by example and keep the negativity to a mimimum and speak highly of the community that you are a member of and showing respect to the loss that has occurred.

I look forward to seeing everyone there tomorrow night.

Skate safe!!!!

Such a tragic event. RIP Ralph, it shouldn't have been this way...

My thoughts will be with you all tomorrow, unfortunately I'll be working during the vigil. Ride smart and safe everyone.
