Hello all, I've been riding a john barnett for a while and was thinking of switching over to the rayne rival. I haven't been able to try the board out myself, so I was wondering if you guys could help me out with this one. What i really want to know is whether or not the platform of rival would be a similar the same size as the barnett because i really don't want to purchase a deck that won't suit my stance. It would be great to get some feedback. Cheers

I ride a Rayne Supreme and I love it, beautiful locking concave with radial drop and 3 stage rocker. The Rival seems a little small for my liking (I am 5'11"), but if you like small wheel bases and foot platforms it might suit you quite well. You live in downtown Toronto? I'm sure someone/some shop has these boards kicking around, go stand on one; none of us can tell you what a board will feel like under your feet.

I'm somewhere between 5'6" to 7" so and I really like the wheel base of the barnett, so I was thinking that the board might suit me a lot better than the supreme. Thanks for the feed back!

The big difference is radial vs staight drop. One will make you feel locked in.

its true, i find with radial drop im not as locked in but i know exactly where i am on my board without looking down, which is all im looking for, perhaps if you are a beginner in downhill/freeride, you will like the john a bit more

Amazon lacks kick tails, which is why I ride a supreme, it would be a good dh/free ride board, but I've already got a dropped killswitch for that. IMO if you like short wheel bases/platforms go rival, if you want something a little more stable (and especially if you are still growing) go supreme.

Just got the rayne rival and I freaking love it. T'was a good investment, but that doesn't mean I'm ready to stop my john barnet; both are good in their own separate ways. The standing platform fits my stance perfectly and it freerides like a beaut.

To the guy who brought up the amazon: it's also a beauty board, but kind of meant for a different style of riding comparing to the rival/supreme.
