Uncle Seb got one back but it was a fucking ordeal. It usually involves some sketchy shit and pretty much stealing it back yourself. Which isnt the best.

You need to at least report it to the police for a few good reasons:
-if the thief gets busted by the cops you can potentially recover your stuff and than more charges can be laid against the thief. -if you see the thief riding your setup and you want to take it back, you already have a case number and can either call the cops or try to get more info on the thief -This thief has most likely stolen before, so might have a lot of stolen gear and would be of interest to Police Services.
Please do not try and be a hero, do not risk your life trying to take your deck back. be smart. Edit: make sure to mark your gear and take a pic so you can recover it with less questions.

Yeah if people are actually getting Mugged for boards, those really need to be reported to the police. Listen to Crash, even if they never act on it, its good for them to know its happening.
I'm not the Police Chief but I imagine it wouldn't be that hard to find people, that others have seen before and since that they can identify, robbing kids pretty much outside 53rd's window! They don't have to catch them with your skateboard/phone. If they stop them, which they have reason to do if you report it, and they have knives on them... concealed weapons charge.

Yesterday I was on the 32 bus from Eglinton station at around 10 30 pm, and I was sitting in the back of the bus with my Ethos and backpack. 6 dudes came on and pretty much surrounded me on all 4 sides of my seat and started staring at me. One of them asked how much my board cost and if he could check it out. Luckily, I had just read this specific thread about an hour earlier and was on the lookout for board-mugging-assholes so I said "Awww this piece of shit? I got it at walmart for like 30 bucks! I dont even think its made of wood hahaha! I'm saving up for one that actually rolls!!" Of course, I still had my phone and bag with me so I assumed they were still going to try to get those as well. Just as I predicted, one of the biggest guys asked what type of phone I had and if he could see it. I said "Yeah sure man, let's just get off at this next stop, I have to get off anyway." We walked to the front of the bus, and I said "After you guys, go right ahead ," and fortunately, they all did! Then I told the bus driver to go go go, and when he took off I explained to him what happened and gave him 10 bucks. Morale of the story: Lookout for 6 guys, all definitely bigger than 6 feet. 4 were black, 2 white, and they all had really nice watches. They also have no clue about longboarding because I was riding an Ethos 38 with yellow stims and calibers.

If only other people can pick up a "situation" like that quick. I'm seeing a trend at Eglington. 2 cases, and probably others... I think it's time to call it in... EGLINTON (AND THE NEARBY AREA) IS BAIT FOR THEFTS, WATCH YOURSELVES THERE, AND YOUR STUFF.

Charles, I bow to you for your handling of the situation... no way I could have stayed as cool. +1000000 It makes me a bit more scared though, especially when I am riding TTC/RT from Downtown into Scarborough coming from late night sessions. You have to stay SUPER conscious of your surroundings. I've been lucky enough to not one have to deal with a bad situation, but I try to be as cognizant as possible in case anything ever comes up. Girl alone+late night+lots of gear=always sketchy.

It's good he was able to do that, but he did mention about reading this specific thread which warned him. Glad to know the community helps even indirectly and sharing experiences, though I agree it's just gonna get more sketch later on.

thanks charvel hahahaha The main thing everyone should be conscious about it is that all in all, you really are just riding a piece of wood with metal and urethane. Its definitely never something anybody should risk their life for, no matter what. Having said that, the people that tried to mug me were dumb! They had no clue at all about longboarding or skateboarding, so do what I did and use that to your advantage. Tell them your boards a piece of crap and its made of plastic, and you got it at Walmart. However, if those guys pulled a knife on me, I would gladly hand over my bag, phone, and board. There is no skateboard with the equality of a human life

The guys came i had my barnet and they were like damn its signed ( thank you pswiss and john barnet). I said ya and can you fuck off and put the music back in my ears. When my stop came i was getting off I noticed them getting up and following me to the front. I got off at Forest Hill where a bunch of my friends were and they just stayed on the bus. Now i push home and save $2

I see another trend here: a lot of you are having problems when you're alone. Pair up, travel together, try to avoid situations where you're stuck alone with a lot of gear, especially if you're going through areas with lots of problems. I know its not always possible but if its going to save you from getting mugged its definitely worth it
