Hey guys. I just got a new complete board.
When i ride it on smooth surfaces(indoor) there is no sound but there is an odd rattling/grinding sound when I ride the board on cement/rough surfaces.
I cant seem to figure out where the sound it coming from. Help would be appreciated. thanks

tighten up all your hardware and axle nuts.

when I had this issue it was because I was riding stock bushings in my randals and had to loosen them up a lot to get the right feel, the result was sloppy loose trucks and a rattling noise caused by the washer not being snug against the bushing, so it would rattle around between the bushing and kingpin head. Got some new bushings that I could ride a little tighter and it fixed the problem right away.

^ Thing is, I switch the bushings to venom bushings as soon as the board came in. It has paris bushing washers since the trucks are also paris.
I don't really want to tighten the kingpin nut by alot because it affects turning ability and since my deck is a drop-thru anyways, I need as much of that as possible. Im going to try and tighten the axle nuts.
Also, every other bolt is pretty tight but never completely tightens. is it supposed to be like that for a drop thru? meaning the truck bolts on the bottom (paris) keep spinning no matter how much i tighten them.
Thanks

tight nuts, run spacers with tight axle nuts (dont complain about freespin it doesnt matter.)

I have spacers so I'm going to tighten the axle nuts. But if it was something to do with the wheels spacing, I was thinking there would be atleast some sound on smooth surfaces but like..on hardwood there is absolutely NO sound.
whats freespin?
EDIT: googled.
Does freespin really not matter? because the easier the wheels can spin, the longer they would spin for, thus requiring less pushing for the rider

a common rookie mistake is thinking that freespin will accurately reflect the riding speed of a bearing. this would only work if there was no cage in place and absolutely no lubrication at all. for example if there is thick grease inside the bearing, the freespin will be poor but it will roll extremely smooth and quiet with no adverse effects on the speed.

Never completely tightens? What do you mean? Just tighten them. A washer between board and nut helps, and if they are not staying tight, replace the nut. The rattling sound is most likely from the loose mounting hardware rattling around.
