If you have any suggestions on what a good board to buy for sliding/DH is that would be great. I was thinking like a Landyatchz Drop Speed or Rayne Hellcat?? Yeah dude, right on!

either of those boards are fine for what you want to do, I would say look into the Landyachtz evo also.

you say that you are looking for a multipurpose board, not only a slide board. For DH and sliding, I would say any of those boards are fine, but if you want to do DH your wheels are going to have to be softer than what you would use on a slide deck, so if you are new to sliding, it's best to learn on a street deck and transfer you skills to your longboard. You can slide on any deck, I don't know what is best for sliding, but I'm sure others on the forum will have their own preference.

My two cents is that you should find a deck with a nice concave, and perhaps a drop-deck will help you break the wheels free a bit better (which will make you more stable for DH) Remember, you can slide on a DH deck, but you can't DH on a slide deck ((unless you have a death wish))

Sliding and Downhill are two very different things...  Dont try to learn and slide on a Dh and dont try to Dh on a slide board.

Very simple, you need two boards Cheesy Landyachtz/rayne/kebbek all make good dh boards, take a look on their web sites and go to the wiki skate to learn about how different boards perform, then find something that works for you

Most Dh boards and some silde boards are talked about on the wiki.

Seconding the don't use them for both.

If you want to become proficient in both then you will need the different boards and wheels for both.

Think of it this way...
- Sliding is the figure skating of longboarding
- DH is the speed skating of longboarding

Would you use the same equipment (not just the skates, I also mean the tight spandex speed suits and the frilly pink tutus) for both?

acctualy i used to DH my caften on 35*plates and 180 hangers with 88a strikers and i also used it to slide for fun, i can still pull 360s on that thing.

BUT in general they are right, get a DH board for DH and a slide board for sliding.

just wondering but what sliding are you talking about? just colmans and stuff or like spins and technical stuff? because you can do colmans and easier slides on dh boards, its just not greaet for the wheels...

I have gone with the helcat due to its weight savings and finleu  tuned concave (however my concave is steeper than most I have an abnormily wide carbon hellcat)
