I'm kinda new to the longboarding scene and stuff so I was just wandering if anyone has tried putting longboard trucks and wheels on a regular skateboard deck before and if so how well did it work?

I know everyone who has read this has laughed, but still:

Lots of riser, and kind of pointless. That being said, there's nothing wrong with a shortboard/pool deck setup with just some soft wheels, that can be fun to shred.
You can also find longboard sized skateboards, but why not just delve into a totally new aspect of skating, and broaden your horizons.

honestly?

fucking knock yourself out tooling around til you get get something that feels right to you. then ride it all over

wasnt that long ago a bunch of surfers too thier idea to the pavement
...then someone made the board deck longer.....then someone cut THROUGH the actual deck! then someone dropped the deck........

adendum....

listen to smoothchicken - risers!!!
as fun as this can be to ride, your not equipped to deal with wheelbite.
or grind out some wheelwells (not that theres much to grind out) or just chop out sides with jigsaw

whatever you do, post some pix!!!!!

but if youre just looking for a short deck similar to your skateboard, check out the options out there. eathwing superglider is only 6 inches longer than a standard skate deck

Go for it !   People do this all the time. It's actually known as a SCHLONG - street deck turned into a longboard.
You redrill the mounting holes for the trucks on the tips. Cut out wheelwells to avoid wheelbite and you can run any size wheels.
You basically get a drop deck. Apparently the ride is pretty good. Although nothing beats a discipline specific longboard.

ok bring that thing to the meet. i wanna ride it.
(may be a good use for my revenge trucks......)
did you say you found the WHEELS on the curb or the TRUCKS???
I KID OF COURSE
but revenge trucks are prob best in this application since the kind of twist more than lean (if that makes ANY sense) and they do have that limiter built in.
