I never really like the first gen Smokies. I thought the geometry was flawed. These actually look quite good/functional. It does seem a bit extravagant to have 5degree increments for the bases, although I would love to try a 50/20 combo! Cant really see anyone needing more than 45 for a DH specific truck.

Napes it depends what your going to put them on.
my trucks are 45° which is a pretty good all around angle. I need more then 35° front/back. I find that a little too dead.
If your going to use them on the Evo i'd suggest just keeping it at 40° since the evo / smokies were kind of designed around each other.
if your going to put them on your drop through board I'd suggest a lowwer angle in the back. helps with speed wobbles and such. I'd go with a 30° or 35° back, and for the front, its just how turney you want it. anywhere from 40-55°.
personally I'd ride it 45° front 35° back because i don't like a huge difference. But you may like a larger difference since you're more used to an Evo?
Just my opinion. hope this helps.

It's a flipped bottom, more surface against the hanger and bushing seat = more resistance.

the deck i am going to be riding which i have yet to make, has a +15degree nose and a -18 degree tail, campared to the +22 -22 Evo.,
i like the way the old smokies ride on the evo so i guess i will just go with the standard 40.
is it even possible to get different angled plates?

I think if you ask you could get one of each... but I dont know if that would mess with ride height, if so I would just keep them the same. If you want the closest feel to the old ones then get the 40 degree plates but remember that they will be easier to turn because its easier to get more leverage out of them now

It's a flipped bottom, more surface against the hanger and bushing seat = more resistance. Im with Robo on this one looks like a JimZ top in the bottom. If that was a flipped bottom it would be WAY meatier

alright, i have decided to go with 45 in the front and 35 in the rear, that way my deck that is +15 -18 will ride almost exactly like an evo with 40's all around, and should i chose to put them on my drop deck ill have a more stable back end.
i wonder if they will sell any 20 degree plates, i dont even know what application that would be uesd for.
and robo is right, it is a jimz top busshing in the bottom, you can tell because there is a mold seam at the widest part, you can clearly see it in the big pic provided by dan

sweet so i have my new smokies, and i cant wait to try them
and to clear up the Jimz top or bottom question, its nither, its a special Jimz, its the bottom mold, but only about half as tall, so they poured less thane so it would fit properly
so with this set up i have 45 degrees in the front and 35 in the back, test day is tomorrow
