SWAP MEET 2009!
Sunday, March 29th - 1pm to 4pm

Roarockit Skateboard Company
880 Millwood Road, Toronto
www.roarockit.com
416 938 4588

Swap/buy/sell used skate gear, socialize and check out
Toronto's skateboard and longboard-building school.

Here's everything you need to know. PLEASE read before asking questions.

(photo taken at SWAP MEET 2008)

There will be plenty of gently used gear to build a longboard for less than
half the original cost AND experienced people who can help you build it.
Oh... and chances are there will be some skateboard gear, too!
SWAP MEET is weather proof: there will be a tent outside,
so don't let the weather hold you back.

Feel free to post a list of items you will bring to SWAP MEET
and a list of items you are looking for to create advance interest.

The posts in this thread are proof that SWAP MEET 2009 will be huge.

Norah and Ted of ROAROCKIT will be firing up the ol' BBQ and supplying
free hotdogs and hamburgers like last year! Those two rock!
There will be a random draw for a Roarockit Pro Builder Kit:
http://www.roarockit.com/proddetail.php?prod=01347
Roarockit will also be handing out custom BOZ stencils
during the event. Guaranteed to please!

A monthly magazine devoted to all types of skateboarding.

Michael Brooke, publisher of CONCRETE WAVE magazine,
will be giving away free issues and assorted swag.
He will also be showing up with a heat press. The idea is...
Bring your own t-shirt and for free you can have a custom Concrete Wave
print blazed front and center... or wherever you like!
www.concretewavemagazine.com

Smooth_Chicken of LONGBOARD HAVEN will run a "pit stop"
and clean people's dirty bearings for a mere $5 a set. Gear will also be sold.

Ponyta will unveil The Super Mellow Beach Cruise 2007-2008 photo book.
http://wikiskate.com/olf2/index.php/topic,3686.0.html

Ninja Master Lu and a few of his pals will be running a custom grip table.
Bring your boards. His grip work is some of the best on OLF!
http://wikiskate.com/olf2/index.php/topic,2958.msg40028.html#msg40028

Charles McRoter will be bringing a fair amount of hardware
which he will gladly give away to those who need it.

Napes will be providing advice and quotes on how to repair
damaged decks you don't want to get rid of, and also bringing examples
of his custom carbon decks, and will answer any questions you may have.
http://wikiskate.com/olf2/index.php/topic,3932.msg53897.html#msg53897

Arsin225 will have ABEC 7 bearings for sale.
http://wikiskate.com/olf2/index.php/topic,3939.0.html

Gibson and crazy_boarder_dude will be bringing a ROGGS Dancer
and a Junior Dancer for everyone to try out. They will also have on hand
the deck that Ted made for the Roarockit Pinch Video contest.
http://wikiskate.com/olf2/index.php/topic,3675.msg50462.html#msg50462

Joker540 will be bringing his one-of-a-kind WEFUNK complete
with pogo baseplates, 70mm zigzags and custom painted randal hangers.
This very high-end item will be sold only if seller receives a reasonable offer.
http://wikiskate.com/olf2/index.php/topic,3824.msg52766.html#msg52766

If you don't have skate gear to swap, then get creative!
Bring whatever items you think skaters might be interested in.
For example, last year mrpunch brought woodworking tools as collateral
and Chromizone brought video games and will do so again this year:
http://wikiskate.com/olf2/index.php/topic,3872.msg53038.html#msg53038

ATTENTION: you may end up swapping for
u  n  e  x  p  e  c  t  e  d     s  t  u  f  f .
Of course, CA$H is always popular.

RIDES WANTED:

The following skaters are looking for a ride to SWAP MEET:

- Scorcher17 is in Waterloo
- Justus is in London

Please send them a pm if you can help out.

SWAP MEET will be a great way to meet skaters
who can tell you all about the various skate events
and sweet spots to ride in and around Toronto.
Last year we had close to 100 people at SWAP MEET.
If you have friends who have been thinking about
taking up longboarding, bring them to SWAP MEET.
SWAP MEET will not be televised...
You will not find it on YouTube the next day...
SWAP MEET will be live.

If weather permits, skaters will once again ride
the (very gnarly) Poop Shute afterwards.
If you wanna join in, bring your helmet and pads!

This post will be updated as new information comes in.

FOR DIRECTIONS, PLEASE READ THE POST BELOW.

I'm debating consolidating my quiver from 8 to 3-4 so I may have a lot of stuff for bargain basement prices.

Hurray,

I'll talk to my father and get him to bring home loads and loads of hardware (washers, nuts, counter sunk bolts and pan head of all lengths)
He gets it for free from Generous Motors, so this way if people are looking to part together some completes they can have the needed hardware to set there boards up.
Whatever I can bring I will donate as long as people don't start to get greedy and take hand fulls.

Yeah man, even if it's just the materials...  I have a baby boy these days, so my glove making time is nil.  I went out on the weekend and cursed my paper thin pucks...  so I'll be making a point of trying to snatch up some glove goodness.
I really just need puck material....  but if there's velcro around, I'll grab that too.  Hell, I'd probably grab fully made gloves.
Bring it all and give me a good deal!

So yeah

I may have a reason to go down to TO sometime in March, but now it doesn't look like I have a choice in the matter Grin
