Sorry it took so long, but here it is!
There is also a facebook event, so you may feel free to join it, it'll make things a little easier to keep track of who's coming!
It's time for the 3rd annual Rum & Stoke, and this year it's going to be bigger and better than ever!
What is it? It's basically a pub crawl, cross country push/drinking race. The way it works is there are 2 types of drinks, compulsory and bonus. At a stop everyone in the race is expected to have the compulsory drink, failing to do so is a large time penalty. At most stops there will also be bonus drinks. Bonus drinks are drinks that can be drank, but are not necessary, in order to receive a time bonus. The list of drinks will be given in advance so everyone can strategize as to if and what bonus drinks one might want to drink in order to receive the best possible time. The compulsory drinks add up to about a total of 5 drinks.
Most of the event (I'd say 95%) takes place on the Ottawa bike trails so there is no real worry about traffic.
There are men's and women's divisions and lots of prizes to be won. The event is sponsored by Top Of The World (Ottawa's best skate shop), Sector9, and more. Last year we gave away an estimated $1500 in gear/prizes for everything from worst bail to most drunk so there are lots of prizes to be had! We gave away everything from complete longboard set-ups to 2-4s of beer, jackets, longboard gear, clothing, and more! (And the more people we have confirmed in advance, the higher the possibility there is for me to get more prizes.)
The race starts at 2pm on Saturday July 12 at the Cabin in Ottawa. We ask all racers arrive by 1pm so we can get everyone ready.
Maps will be given to all racers as well as ticksheets to track drinks had (we are coming up with a better system than last year). We will also be including pictures of critical areas with the maps this year to help prevent people from accidentally riding past the stops.
Also, this year we will be asking for an entry fee of $45 but this will include all compulsory drinks in the race to speed things up (last year everybody had to individually pay which consumed a lot of time and split up the pack). Bonus drinks will still have to be paid individually (time delays will be considered and factored into the bonus time).
The first year we had 9 people show, last year 22 (don't worry, only 5 puked), and this year we're expecting 40+!
Of course, any left over booze we have gets to go towards the afterparty, followed by a night out for drinks! .......and pickled cheese?
Top Of The World, who throws numerous awesome events for skateboarding/snowboarding, proclaimed this as the most fun event they threw last summer! Come join the fun! If you want to see some of the race, check out the video below:

If you know anybody who might be interested in racing, pass this on!
Or if you're not quit sure and would like to volunteer, or know somebody else who wants to volunteer, please let us know!
This is going to be the best race yet and we're excited to be doing yet again!
