Andrew, I forgot to ask, do you need a place to stay?? Cause I'll be staying in Brooklyn with some of the Earthwing guys and would need to let them know if I'm bringing someone... I'm pretty certain they won't mind (especially since you're a fellow slider ).

haha, the tents in the backyard deal was offered by Nervous Ned on Silverfish... I think he's the guy Tyler & Corey stayed with last year. I haven't met him though, so I'd rather stay with people I know and like: "New Brian" on the Earthwing team and Travis--two of the raddest guys I have ever met. Their loft in Brooklyn is conveniently located only a few stops from Mike D's place (the location of the after-party), which will make it super easy to stumble home on Saturday! When I was last there, they had an air mattress as well as a few super comfy couches, but I would bring a sleeping bag just in case. My ticket is for the Royal York as well, which is at 100 Front St E. I'll probably get there about 20 minutes early to be safe and have time to figure out where the bus is leaving from an such. I'll PM you my # in case you don't already have it. Here is an update from the Earthwing website: This is the 10th annual Central Park Race. You could die.
Friday Night The Earthwing Friday Night Rips: 6/6/08 8pm
Head over to Brooklyn for some sliding, wheelies and maybe frontsideflip a double-set and show D-Henson, and the Gonz what time it is. To get there take the F train 15th Street then skate into the park at 15th and Prospect Park west, turn right at the main loop and skate about 3 blocks worth till you get to the hill where the skaters are ripping, and going off all over the place.
Saturday Central Park Race 6/7/08 12pm
OK this is the main event! Hosted by the New York Longboard Association. Lots of prizes and the trophy! Once around Central Park (6.2 miles) almost everyone in the top 10 gets a prize. The current record is around 23 min held by Kaspar Spurgeon of Earthwing Skates - undefeated since 2003. So get yourself over to the park to train now or you'll never have a chance! After the race we go for beer at the boathouse to socialize, and kick out the jams.
Weekend Party 6/7/08 8pm Held in Brooklyn at the Earthwing traning facility AKA Mike D's joint. Six Stops out on the L train at Morgan Avenue. We are going to have LIVE MUSIC AND FREE BEER. Please bring your own food, and party hats.
Sunday 2nd Annual Powerslide Jam 6/8/08 3pm
Hosted by Earthwing Skateboards. The Jam format comp. will be up in the Cloisters in upper Manhattan. If you take the A train to 190th street you will come out in the park. If you are closer to the 1 train then take it to 191st street. If you are driving from NJ come over the George Washington Bridge. Turn uptown on Broadway and go to 190th street. For up to the minute information, call the party hotline (718) 595-2007.
Everyone is welcome except the cops. Just don't tell the cops. This message will automatically self destruct at 3pm Sunday June 8th, and after that we plead the 5th.

Hey Everyone Long time, First off I apologize for not reading the entire thread before posting, I'm literally running to catch this bus as soon as I finish typing this.
So ya, I was supposed to drive from Montreal to NYC with a bunch of local buddies who all ditched me last minute for some comp here, so I'm going to take the bus to NYC. I was originally going to rent a room at Hotel I used to work at in Chelsea but I'm not going to spent that type of money to crash there myself, and all my friends from the city seem to be upstate, in Hawaii, or have family over this weekend. So is there any chance someone could help me find some floor/couch/anything safe to sleep at? I don't mind giving some cash to anyone who might be able to help me out, I just don't feel like running around Jersey Saturday night looking for a cheap hotel. AJ just told me I should check here because I apparently know people going? .....I'm so going to end up sleeping at a 24hr coffee shop. Anyway if anyone can help me out let me know, and if not I'll still share my giant bottle of Jameson with you!
Cheers

What a CRAZY weekend. Got some photos up here. Unfortunately no shots from the race cause my batteries died + I was too busy skating. Still getting used to my camera, so the shots aren't the best... Both Andrew and I scored some prizes... he won a deck for traveling the furthest and some trucks at the slide comp for "best slides on soft wheels"! He was pulling some very steezy stand-ups on his Dropspeed. I won a deck & wheels at the race for placing 1st out of the girls (there were about 8 or 9 of us out of 127 riders... not the greatest ratio, but the girls that showed up weren't kidding around either) as well as some trucks at the slide comp. Both the events were very hooked up with sponsors... at one point during the awards at the slide comp, a judge said, "what other categories can we think of to give away the rest of this shit?". Sweet shwag aside, this was one of the greatest race weekends I've been to so far. Albeit not the best organized (the start was literally an "ok, GO!" thing when most people were still standing around shmoozing). Neither Andrew nor I know where we placed in the group cause they got lazy and stopped recording stuff after the first 10 people. This guy Ned was taking photos of everyone at the finish line so hopefully we'll get to find out when he posts them up in order. I'm already stoked for the Broadway Bomb in October... I expect to see more Ontario folk this time!!

yup! his real name is Howard, right? we discussed how lame you were for bailing on him. To be fair AJ wasn't that lame for bailing on me, he was pretty lame before that :p Nah... just kidding. It's cool he really wants to kick ass in this Quebec race series, it wasn't his fault that it rained and they decided postpone it to a date that would conflict with the MUCH COOLER comp in NY. Plus like he said he has a chance of winning since Niko isn't competing this year (direct quote from you, you can't give me shit about that). Christ... as if we don't bust each others balls enough in real life, I've now spread it to foreign internet forums. Ride more post less
